Was Israel behind the assassination of the young Iranian academic Dariush Rezaeinejad? On July 23, the 35 year old elite - researcher Rezaienejad, died after being shot in the throat, in front of his wife and daughter outside his daughter's kindergarten in the eastern parts of Tehran. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack .
On November 29,2010, in separate locations in Tehran, two other Iranian academics were targeted by unidentified terrorists.
Explosives were attached to vehicles of Professor Fereydoun Abbasi and Dr.Majid Shahriari. Shahriari was killed immediately, while Abbasi and his wife survived with injuries.
On December 2,2010 the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced that Mossad, the CIA, and the MI6 all played a role in those covert attacks.
When asked by one of Europe's largest publications, Der Spiegel, if Israeli Mossad was involved in the assassination of Dariush Rezaeinejad, Ehud Barak, the Israeli Zionist and Offense Minister, said: “I am not answering this question."
However, according to sources, slaying of Iranian nuclear scientists are part of a campaign to sabotage, or at least slow down, the Iranian nuclear program. Israeli sources say that the alleged campaign also involves targeted assassinations and other tactics as well. One example was the cyber- attack in the summer of 2010. Stuxnet, the computer virus was used to paralyze larger parts of the Iranian nuclear program.
In an article published on Monday entitled “Israel's Murderous Sabotage Strategy,” Der Spiegel wrote that the assassination was planned and implemented by Israel's intelligence agency, the Mossad.
Adding that the Israeli terrorist attack was the “first action”, the new Mossad chief, Tamir Pardo is pointing out that the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists is part of Israel's sabotage strategy to stop or delay Iran's nuclear program.
As if the Israelis covert action does not go far enough, calls for bombing Iran are getting louder and louder, especially among Israeli Air Force officers, according to sources of Der Spiegel.
